BETFAIR OPENS U.S. HORSERACE BETTING TO BRITS

Online betting exchange Betfair has scored another American coup, reaching a deal that will allow common-pool betting on next month’s Breeders’ Cup at the Kentucky racecourse Santa Anita Park, reports Associated Press.

The agreement opens the Breeder’ Cup to the 2.5 million gamblers on Betfair’s books, significantly increasing the potential total handle.

Breeders’ Cup to be open to huge global online betting market

The Breeders’ Cup has reached an agreement that will open up wagering on the championship races to a huge new international online market.

Betfair, the British betting exchange, will be allowed for the first time to offer pari-mutuel pool betting on the Thoroughbred racing championships to its more than 2.5 million customers. The Breeders’ Cup World Championships will be run Nov. 6-7 at Santa Anita Park in California.

Last year, international simulcast betting on the Breeders’ Cup was $17.6 million of the total $155 million wagered.

Liverpool Set For European Exit?

Bookmaker William Hill is now offering 8/11 on Liverpool failing to escape the group stage of the Champions League.

Rafa Benitez’s side are now 8/11 with William Hill to fail to qualify for the knockout stages in Europe following their fourth consecutive defeat in all competitions.

With Liverpool enduring their worst run of results since 1987, the sports betting firm is offering 5/4 on Benitez leaving the club before the end of the season.
